MIVV & DUCATI DIAVEL AMG

Designed by MIVV also the DIAVEL AMG SPECIAL EDITION exhaust system

The partnership with Ducati has proved a winning one. After being on the market for just about 1 year, Diavel has already become one of the main dreams of motorbike enthusiasts, and is widely appreciated by the press all over the world. A winning team should not be changed, and in fact the MIVV-DUCATI combination has followed its natural course with the DIAVEL AMG Special Edition project.
As you all know, AMG is Mercedes’ sports brand.

We are talking of a motorbike with unique features, sold as limited series, for which we have created ex-novo an exhaust that is not only incredibly beautiful – something that in this case is of extremely high strategic importance -, but also very technologically advanced.

Diavel AMG was presented to the public for the first time last September at the Mercedes stand, during the 64th International Motor Show of Frankfurt. Extremely admired in spite of this being an event dominated by the 4-wheel, Ducati has left all the expert gobsmacked, due to its attention to detail and its style, inspired by new design elements reminiscent of faster vehicles, by the wheels, and the shape of the radiators. A solution that also includes our new exhaust system with bottoms depicting the AMG logo.

In terms of technical details, the MIVV system has been designed and built using the most advanced processes, including Hydroforming, 3D laser cutting, high efficiency robotic welding, and taking into account all the implications it would have on the whole motorbike, like the desmodromic valve operation, which in the case of the AMG is calibrated by hand at Ducati by an engineer (who then signs each single one).

The silencer consists of a body entirely made of stainless steel with anodised cast aluminium bottom. The configuration includes an overlapped double outlet. The system has a 2 in 1 in 2 structure with a catalyst. The work on the manifolds has been rather demanding. Of a bigger size (58 mm diam.) and a 1 mm thickness, the pipes have a bending radius at the limits of feasibility. The exhaust includes an electronically controlled throttle valve capable of optimizing the exhaust gas flow at the various regimes of rotation of the engine.

Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition will be available from the early months of 2012.
